# Create a member

> Create the initial owner of a partner-managed workspace.

To invite the first customer administrator, use your partner API key and select
the managed workspace with `Plane-Workspace`. Send `name`, `email`, and
`roles: ["owner"]`. This is the only role selection accepted for creation.
Your partner must manage the workspace, it must still have its
inherited owner, and there must be no existing Admin. Workers and other
non-Admin members may already exist.

Returns the existing [Member object](https://docs.plane.com/reference/members/object.md) and sends the
normal invitation. The Member has `roles: ["admin"]`. After verified acceptance,
they become the workspace's single Organization owner if they are its only Admin
and it still has its inherited partner owner. Later Admin invitations do not
transfer ownership.

This creates a new Member; it does not turn an existing worker member or linked
workspace account into the first Admin. Creating any other Member through this
API is not supported. Updating and deleting Members are not exposed here.
